May 13, 2015

WASHINGTON, May 12, 2015 – Neighborhood Retail Group (NRG), a Washington-based retail leasing brokerage firm, announced today it has been exclusively selected to represent the ownership of the former headquarters of the National Bank of Washington, 619 14th Street NW in Washington. Located at the intersection of 14th and G streets NW near Metro Center, this flagship retail leasing property is an opportunity to activate this vibrant, historic landmark that has remained dormant in the heart of downtown for decades.

With just under 35,000 square feet of flagship restaurant and retail space across multiple levels, the property encompasses nearly half a city block. NRG is currently in talks with global retailers and restaurateurs interested in locating businesses in this prestigious building.

“Our team is honored to have been selected to lease such an iconic and significant property,” says Bethany Scanlon, co-founder and principal, NRG. “We look at every listing like it is our building, and evaluate every tenant as if they were interested in our own portfolio. The 14th and G building is an exceptional property, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.”

Formally known as The Federal-American National Bank, the property is commonly referred to as The National Bank of Washington, or 14th and G. Architects Alfred C. Bossom and Jules Henri de Sibour designed the building, which was completed in 1926. This historic landmark features a Classical Revival façade, large arched windows, bronze vestibule and Renaissance Revival banking room with a marble entrance stair, mezzanine, elaborate polychrome coffered ceiling, chandeliers, ornamentation in classical motifs and innovative open counter design.

An affiliate of Borger Management, Inc., NRG specializes in the facilitation of lasting partnerships between commercial property landlords and tenants in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. NRG holds a current portfolio of more than 180 properties, community centers and specialty retail properties.
